The use of complementary treatments as adjuncts in cancer care, including acupuncture, herbal medicine, and homeopathy, has been shown to be effective in reducing symptoms caused by conventional cancer therapies and improving patients' quality of life. For example, acupuncture is used to alleviate post-chemotherapy nausea and vomiting, as well as pain. Homeopathy and herbal treatments help reduce fatigue, anxiety, and depression often experienced by cancer patients.

Research indicates that these complementary therapies are not only safe but also widely accessible within public health systems. In Tuscany, Italy, evidence-based therapies such as acupuncture and herbal medicine have been integrated into the public health network to support cancer care. This integration aims to better respond to cancer patients' demand for additional therapies that can alleviate the side effects of conventional treatments.

In conclusion, evidence-based complementary treatments offer significant additional benefits to cancer patients. These therapies not only help reduce the side effects of conventional treatment but also enhance overall well-being. Therefore, integrating complementary treatments into public health systems can provide a more holistic and comprehensive treatment option for cancer patients.
